DEPARTURE BASES
With a hive of activity all year round, natural beauty, sandy beaches, small fishing villages, history and culture, Spain holds something for everyone and more.
Barcelona Base: Barcelona is the capital of the region of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. It hosts one of Europe's principal Mediterranean ports, and a wealth of cultural and architectural sights like Gaudi's famous cathedral La Sagrada Familia or the landmark venues of the 1992 Olympic Games, making it a major tourist destination offering shopping, dining, nightlife and sightseeing alike.
Palma de Mallorca Base: Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the Balearic Islands and the largest city in Mallorca with a cosmopolitan look, many shops, restaurants, and other activities for visitors. Because of its beautiful landscape and mild, sunny climate, Mallorca is popular with tourists from all over Europe and the rest of the world. Bellver Castle and La Seo Cathedral are highlights of the city while all over the island sandy beaches, secluded bays and seaside villages await.
Palamós Base (Costa Brava): An important port for the Costa Brava region, Palamos has its own fishing fleet, one of the last on this coast. In recent year the town has become a popular holiday destination and has a decent range of facilities, some fine beaches and a lively nightlife scene centred around the harbour area. Places of interest to visit include the castle of Sant Esteve, the church of Santa Eugenia Vilarroma (16th century) and the church of Santa Maria del Mar, which dates from the 15th century.
San Antonio Base (Ibiza): San Antonio, Ibiza’s second largest city, offers something for everybody, with a great variety of accommodation and entertainment and famous for its sunsets and lively night-time vibe (especially in the summer months). The older part of the town extends from the 16th Century church down to the port area, as this was originally a fishing village. The port, being a natural harbour in a strategic position in the middle of the Mediterranean, played an important role in the island's history for many centuries as different civilizations invaded the island.
